Dr. Chandan Banerjee is serving National Institute of Solar Energy as Deputy Director General (Scientist ‘F’) since 2016. He received his Master’s Degree in Physics from Jadavpur University, India in 1999 and M. Tech. from IIT Kharagpur, India in 2000. He gained Ph. D degree from Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science / Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 2003. He was a post-doctoral fellow in Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan during 2004 to 2005. During his post-doctoral research work in Japan, he was awarded prestigious JSPS postdoctoral fellowship and continued his post-doctoral research work as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow up to 2007 in Tokyo Institute of Technology. He joined Hind High Vacuum Company Pvt. Ltd. Bangalore, India in 2007 and continued their till 2013. Dr Banerjee has authored more than fifty research papers in peer reviewed journal and filed eleven patents in the area of solar technologies. He has deep expertise of running projects under Industry-Academia-Government tripartite relationships and successfully implemented more than 10 Projects as PI/Co-PI. He has credited with developing India’s first indigenous Amorphous Silicon based thin film solar module production line while working with Hind High Vacuum Pvt Ltd Bangalore and IACS Kolkata. He has also received prestigious National Solar Science Fellow award by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt. of India and worked in Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, Howrah, India as a National Solar Science Fellow from 2013 to 2016. His research interest includes Thin Film material & solar cell, Heterojunction solar cell, PERC solar cell, transparent conducting oxide, PV module reliability etc
